fringe_exchangeIn a festive mood for Fringe? For a gift exchange of fiction, podfic, art including icons, and vids?
Then you're about to enter the right universe: welcome tofringe_exchange. The sub-community of fringe_kinkmeme, formerly known as Fringe Secret Santa, has its own shiny new place.
The Fringe Gift Exchange is open to fanfic, podfic, fanart including icons, and fanvids; on the fic side everything goes -- all we ask for is a minimum word count of 750, that kinks are tagged and warnings included.
1. To SIGN UP, all you need to do is add a comment to this very post containing your request by the 31st of October.
2. RESPONSES to gift requests are to be posted by December 27, in a separate entry to this community, preferably by your Dreamwidth (or validated open id) sock of choice. The entries will go into a moderation queue until the reveal. All entries will be unveiled by the mods at the same time once every participant has a gift.
3. If you don't want to make a sock journal, that's not a problem. Just let one of the mods know ahead of time. We can easily put up a separate entry for you to post your gift as an anonymous comment.

Things I'd like: Redverse! I miss Redverse!Lincoln Lee the most. I want him back. Could someone write me an AU where he didn't die? Or really any story set in the Redverse during any season except the fourth? I also love team fic, so including any combination of the Redverse's Olivia and Charlie and Astrid would make me happy. They don't have to do anything except hang out together. I kind of doom-ship Redverse Altlivia and Lincoln, but actually I'd be fine if she was still with Frank, too. Fringe friendshipping is the best shipping.
Stories not set in the Redverse: I would be interested in a story where our Lincoln didn't leave for the Otherside, but instead went back to Connecticut and reconnected with his partner's widow and his godchildren. Not a romance, but look, he'd told Olivia they were the family he'd never had. And then he left them. Twice. That needs fixing imho.
Alternate crazy-Wendy ideas: if you're a Phile, you could write me a fic set in my AU where Mulder was Charlie's first partner. Set it back in the day, when there was still an FBI. Fox Mulder and Charlie Francis! We put the "I" in FBI! Or set it in the present day and have Mulder and Scully have Charlie and His Bug Science Lady Friend over for Thanksgiving Day dinner. Other cross-over ideas: if you could figure out a way to cross Fringe and Elementary, that would be amazing.
Non-fic things: a podfic of any of my three Fringe stories would make me very happy. Or a banner for any of the three stories. Or icons, I do love me some icons. If you can make mix and match fandoms, icons where the X-Files and Fringe intersect would be awesome. Otherwise, Lincoln Lee is always a good bet. If you like to vid, how about a Redverse Lincoln Lee vid set to Regina Spector's The Party. There wouldn't be a dry eye left in the house. Or any music, really. Just getting a Fringe vid would incredible.
Things I wouldn't like: Porn Without Plot. I like short, crucial to the plot sex scenes fine, but I kind of don't read the lengthy ones anymore. I am fine with all pairings, as long as they aren't the sole focus of the story. Also I'm not personally convinced that the Fringe characters are polyamorous.
What I can do: I can write plotty genfic. I can write fix-it fic and missing scenes (except porn), AUs, cross-overs with any fandom I'm familiar with, and even (gasp) romance. I can make simple icons and banners.
What I can't do: I cannot write good porn. I cannot vid. I cannot create podfic.
Pinch hitter? Yes. I write well under pressure, except for porn. I cannot be a backup vidder or podficcer.

Things I'd like: For you to write what you like, whether gen, het, or slash. I have a not-secret fondness for Lincoln of all permutations, especially Red. A Red!Lincoln/Blue!Olivia fic or vid would make me cry with joy. Or the fic where Red!Linc survived and he, Liv, Charlie, and Blue!Lincoln figure out their new dynamics. Or Lincoln/anybody fic, including himself. *g* On other notes, anything about the Red'verse team! Any permutation of Astrid/Lincoln or Astrid/Peter would be delightful. And the world always needs more fic featuring Charlie Francis, any flavor. Threesomes are *awesome* in any combination.
Things I wouldn't like: I read fic for the things the show won't give me, so P/O isn't my first choice. (Not allergic to it, though.) S5 isn't really tripping my triggers. Heavy angst not so much, either.
What I can do: Gen, het, slash, mostly dialogue and characterization. You probably don't want me writing your epic Peter/Olivia romance, but otherwise I'm flexible.
What I can't do: Graphics or vids, sadly. Big action!fic unlikely as well.

Things I'd like: Things about Astrid (any permutation) or blue/amberverse Walter.
In the non-fic department, I'd take anything about them, though I don't have much use for images other than icons.
In the fic department: 1) I really love them as bros, and the care and friendly affection between them. They so clearly care about each other, and end up supporting each other's work. I also love the turn in s3/4 where Astrid went from "sidekick" to "badass." Backstory on either of them would be great. 2) If you're going to write redverse Astrid, please be mindful about approaching her as an autistic person (though I wish this were more clear in canon, it's clear to me) and someone who doesn't deal with the world neurotypically, but is still emotionally complex. Fic that worked with the info we got in the episode where her father died would be heartbreakingly wonderful. 3) For that matter, I really love the exploration of Walter as mentally ill but still brilliant but sometimes struggling; he's not just weird, he's *different,* and fic that explores that would be great. 4) If you want to write me porn, Brown Betty Verse Olivia/Esther is my fucking jam. Go for it. I like porn.
Things I wouldn't like: I can be flexible--I like most things that are canon-near.
What I can do: I'm a writer, and I'll write just about anything that isn't too far from canon. I don't think I can do porn in this fandom, not at the moment. (OK, maaaaybe Olivia/Astrid in some permutations.)
What I can't do: Things that aren't writing.

Things I wouldn't like: Generally speaking, I'm less interested in m/m or things that are just about the men. Complicated endings are A-OK, but not unhappy ones. At best, I'm pretty ambivalent about H/C and like I said, stay away from power imbalances in sexual relationships. Please don't play with themes of memory as identity (it's a fraught subject!) Blue!Charlie or Blue!John Scott as a main character would leave me pretty flat.
What I can do:
If I'm writing, I'm most comfortable working with gen, but will happily write pre-ship style ships. Also crossovers! As a podficcer, I prefer not to record incest or explicit sex, but am otherwise pretty good to go.
An assignment that gives me lots to dig into with the women of the show and/or Lincoln would make me happiest! I also love Lincoln/Lincoln and Peter/Olivia/Lincoln in the amber verse.
What I can't do: More or less the same as my "things I wouldn't like to receive" list, although this is a small enough fandom (I love digging into unexplored corners, but Fringe fandom is small enough that most things are unexplored!) that working the men of the show is okay by me, particularly in podfic.

Things I'd like:
Fanfic-wise, I’d dig Blue!Lincoln with a female Dunham: Olivia, Alt!Liv, or even Etta. I miss the Redverse, either in the past or, ideally, in the future – how far is your call. I like character interaction and insight best, but plot impresses me like whoa, and if you can add a bit of humour I will love your writing forever. Higher ratings are better, but don’t strain yourself…only the characters.
Fanworks of other kinds are great too: I’d love a vid very, very dearly. Obviously, anything that has Olivia kicking ass and taking names would be great. I still long for a Landscape (Florence + the Machine) vid featuring Olivia, or if you happen to be a Peter/Olivia shipper, I’ll take a vid for them set to Love Is No Big Truth (Kings of Convenience). Or absolutely any vid featuring Lincoln, any version – clearly I’m still holding out for a Heartbeats vid (The Knife). Podfic of any of my stories also welcome.
Things I wouldn't like: Regarding fanfic, I’m a shipper, so genfic generally excites me less…unless it has Astrid! Then anything goes. While I like most permutations of pairings in all ‘verses just fine, I’m not a huge Peter/Olivia shipper…but if you do them well and steer them far, far away from Forever Destiny! Territory and let them navigate the pitfalls of real life, or have really really hot sex, I’m all for it!
Fanworks? Most graphics don’t do it for me, and as for icons: I don’t post enough lately and do make them myself. But vids and podfics -- can’t go wrong with them.
What I can do: I can write fic and make icons or fanart; I’ll do femslash, slash, and het but write genfic pretty much only for rainer76 (because of *reasons*). I like to think I’m good at dialogue and a blend of drama, pseudo-plot, and humour. Fanwork-wise, my colouring and cropping as well as the composition is quite decent. I think.
What I can't do: Not ideal for P/O fic and alas cannot vid either; I can podfic but not especially well.
Pinch hitter? I could pinch-hit for fanworks that are not fic, I think: icons or a graphic.

Things I'd like: All I really want this holiday exchange is fic. Boyond that, I only ask, dear writer, that you put aside any worries about what I would and would not like, and enjoy playing with this canon. Too vague? Okay, I like 5-things stories, secret marriages, road trips, outsider point of view. I like time travel and paradoxes and stories where one tiny thing in canon is changed but affects things in a big way. I love the Original Harvard Four, before things got complicated, but any timeline will do. Found families and stories about making complicated relationships work (and not just romantic ones - this show is about fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, and every surrogate combination thereof) are my weak spot. I'd prefer gen or het to slash, but if that's what makes your story work, then run with it.
Things I wouldn't like: PWP, Etta/anybody outside her timeline, permanent character death, anything that requires the standard trigger warnings.
What I can do: Gen, het, plotty fic, one-shots, 5-things, character-centric stories, time travel, non-linear storytelling...missing scenes. I've got half a case-fic written that I'd love to be pushed into finishing and give away.
What I can't do: My talents are pretty much limited to fic. Beyond that, I'm open to try anything, though given my writing style, requests for explicit slash/femslash should probably be left to people with a better handle on pronouns.

Things I'd like: Generally, I like damn near anything. I like crack!fic, kink, plotty case!fic, PWP, crossovers, AUs, het, gen, slash, poly, whatever.
Specifically:
- Red!verse fic with Liv, Lincoln and Charlie. Gen, porn, angst, fluff - anything with the three of them.
- Anything with both Lincolns. As in Lincoln&Lincoln or Lincoln/Lincoln.
- Astrid/anyone as long as it's really smoking' hot and sexy because Astrid deserves it.
- Etta. I would like anything with her, be it reconnecting with her parents, getting to know Astrid, something with her and Simon, her working with the resistance pre-S5 and being an awesome badass like her mom. Anything that ignores or fixes the events of 5.04.
- Fluffy, feel-good Olivia/Peter romance.
- Any character owning their kinks in a really positive, enthusiastic way.
Things I wouldn't like: I'd prefer fic to anything else, and I'd rather not have fic that puts red!Liv in a negative sort of role.
What I can do: Write. Pretty much anything goes for writing, although I suppose specialize in crack and threesome fics. I can also do icons and other graphics.
What I can't do: Vid, sadly. My podficcing skills are pretty sketchy, too.

Things I'd like: Gen fic that is heavy on character exploration. Any character. Also Blue!Lincoln/Red!Olivia, anything, one year after the bridge is closed. Anything Peter/Olivia, though I would love it if someone please filled the [Uniforms; talking during sex] prompt over at the kink meme. Would not object to seeing that Etta/Simon fic pre-Letters of Transit (can be anything). Also, some Nina & Peter interaction, Amber timeline-- Including baby Etta earns you an extra cookie.
Weird idea: write me that fic where John Scott got to live and is still Olivia's partner but Peter is somehow still in the picture, in any capacity. A sort of alternate season 1 (I really just constantly wonder about this).
Other than fic: Icons. Give me All. The. Icons. Partial to Peter here, but anyone else is valid too.
Things I wouldn't like: Don't mind it but I'm really not all that into slash. Would like to avoid PWP but if it's what makes your story work please ignore this. No Major, Permanent character death. And...that's it.
Things I can do: well, I mostly write Peter/Olivia, but I like character pieces and am willing to try any character. Will write missing scenes. Will attempt all sorts of AUs. Would like to think I'm good at plotting (not so much at keeping that plot contained to a one-shot).
Things I won't do: Lincoln/Blue!Olivia (reasons). As mentioned above, not that into slash. Cannot vid. Cannot pod-fic.

Things I'd like: I pretty much adore everyone, and would equally enjoy something gen or something shippy. Any type of fanwork will make me happy. If icons or graphics are your thing, I would love some new Olivia or Astrid centric icons, an Olivia-focused tumblr layout, or a cinemagraph or two!
In general P/O is my core ship, and/or poly/threesomes involving P/O, but Olivia is my favorite character, so while I don’t much care to see Peter with anyone else, I love other ships featuring Olivia. Team dynamics hit a ton of my buttons, especially as they appear in Redverse or in earlier Blueverse when the focus was more investigatory.
Fannish tropes I can never get enough of include genderswap/genderfuck (though genderswap purely for the purpose of a m/m pwp isn’t too interesting to me), bodyswitch, pretend couple (esp. Blue!Olivia/Red!Lincoln or Olivia/Astrid), and Canadian shack.
Random things that came to mind while typing this up are: one of my biggest canon regrets is never getting a Red!John Scott when the Redverse was first introduced; a BBC Sherlock crossover would probably be amazing; and this is one of the few fandoms where I would really love to see some non-saccharine mpreg (human...though really, larval is cool, too).
Things I wouldn't like: Unhappy endings or endings without hope. I’m not too keen on Blue!Lincoln/Red!Liv as a ship. h/c or AUs of the mundane sort aren’t my thing (i.e. a werewolf or steampunk AU are cherished while a bookstore AU is likely to make me snooze). Animated icons, or icons that are mostly text.
What I can do: I draw, write, and on occasion, I vid. I’ve never podficced, but I’d be willing to give it shot! Based on prior efforts, I’m probably best suited to write something with Blue!Olivia, Red!Lincoln, or Walter as the focus.
What I can't do: Much to my frustration, I can’t typically manage complex, plotty things. I’m really not very good at domestic or fluffy situations. I doubt I could write anything with Broyles or Nina featuring strongly.

Things I'd like: I would love fic, or vids, or icons. I miss the blue!verse and the red!verse, so if you wanted to write something set in either/both of those, that would be fantastic (though I'd be happy with amber!verse too, if something takes you that way). Olivia and Astrid (all versions, including Brown Betty) are my favourites, either together or separately. I love people being team, people being friends/family, people being competent and good at what they do. I would be estactic about fic with Astrid having her own fringe-event related plotline. I like Peter/Olivia, but I prefer them less soppy than they were by the end of S4. I'd love any Lincoln pairing at all. I love world-building, and character moments, and plots, and porn.
Things I wouldn't like: Podfic, tragic endings.
What I can do: I can read podfic, I can write gen or non-porny pairings.
What I can't do: I'm terrible at writing porn. I can't do graphics.

THING'S I'D LIKE: I'm a Bishop fan, more Peter than Walter, but those two interacting in any capacity would mean I'd adore you forever, or even Walter's in-thoughts during season four. I like Astrid, Lincoln, Olivia, Etta and co, I'm good with gen/slash/poly so don't stress, I read it all gleefully. Other than that, do whatever you want, and have fun..or (add on) you could also write me Phillip's first meeting with Etta, or Nina for that matter.
THING'S I WOULDN'T LIKE: Mpreg, incest.

Things I'd like: I ship Peter and Olivia like burning, so anything with those two I'd be happy with. Fic of any rating, fluffy and/or hot 'n' sexy, icons, vids, whatever you're good at. Good characterisation. Anything centred around Olivia is great. I like missing scenes/post-ep fic, too. I also love Altliv, both Lincolns, and the Redverse in general.
Things I wouldn't like: m/m slash, character death, incest pairings, podfics. Olivia is my favourite character, so if there's a fic without her, I probably won't read it.
What I can do: Well, I can only do graphics. Icons, mostly.
What I can't do: Write. I'm not a writer, which is why I thought so long about signing up here. And I have no idea how to make videos either.

Things I'd like: I'm fond of Astrid, either verse, or Lincoln, either 'verse. What does red!Frank do when he's not with Liv? Frankly, I want more Red'verse, so anything over there would be great!
Things I wouldn't like: Honestly? Anything s05. I also can not read dubcon or noncon, nor DSM for trigger reasons (B is fine). I'm really not fond of the A/B/O trope (in spite of my fondness for werewolves), and mpreg needs a lot of in-story explanation for me to buy.
What I can do: Writing. I'm really fast at plotty stuff and au shenanigans, and crossovers are kind of my bread and butter.
What I can't do: see my triggers, above. I'm also not good at explicit het, as it's been a while since I even sat for the practical, let alone passed.
Pinch hitter? Maybe - you're competing with dissertation rewrites, so while I won't say 'hell no'...

Things I'd like: Olivia and AltLivia, both of them having adventures together. With the Astrids, either one, if you're up for writing them too. My love for the women in this series knows no bounds, and any Astrid's interaction with any Olivia has been great. As has either woman's interaction with any other iteration of herself.
I love AUs and time travel, either canon-based or wildly varying from the show's premise. Also, fusion AUs.
And telepathy. And soulbonding. And a lot of the weird tropes. Check out my AO3 fic archive to see what I generally have written; it's obviously a good guide for what I also like to read.
I generally get into fandom for the women saving themselves and each other, and I love femslash. I like some of the het pairings in this show (Olivia/Peter, Olivia/Lincoln, and Olivia/Peter/Lincoln), but I am in it for the women. That said, I don't have to have femslash. Gen or het or poly is fine, as long as the focus is on the women.
Things I wouldn't like: M/m. I don't have anything against it; it's just not what I'm mainly interested in with this fandom.
I also dislike damsels in distress, though if you'd like to flip it and make Peter or Lincoln be the damsel in distress, I'd be fine with that. (Also, it's fairly canon-appropriate.)
Please, no noncon (dubcon is okay, if you feel you can walk that fine line), and no character bashing. Should you feel the need to do a pairing, I'm good with that so long as the unpaired characters aren't vilified! Also, no non-canon character death.
What I can do: Femslash! Also gen and het! Anything featuring the ladies, basically. I write men well, but I tend to write them as secondary characters. So don't assign me anything focusing on them, please, just them as secondary characters.
I'm a writer, primarily, though I have a sideline in ridiculously detailed meta. I doubt anyone wants that, though.
My favorites are Olivia, any iteration, and Astrid, any iteration. Also Nina, but she's harder to get into the head of. So consider that the order of preference for characters I'd most like to write: Olivia, then Astrid, then Nina.
Are you great at a certain genre (gen, het, slash)? Are you the specialist for writing specific character/s or pairing/s? One of the excellent Fringe vidders out there, or an icon-maker with aspirations? One of the folks on tumblr who brighten every Fringe fan's day? As ever, specifics are great so your match brings you tears of happiness instead of, you know, the opposite.
What I can't do: Same as my DNW list. Also, please don't assign me any season five stuff. I'm trying to catch up, but I can't guarantee I'll be able to by the time fics are due. (It's going that well for me lately.)
