Anon. Anon. I've wanted podfic of this story since it was published and now you've recorded it for me :DDDD Are you prescient?

I haven't listened to more than a few minutes of it yet (I have public transportationing to do later today and this is the story coming with me!) but I can't definitively place your voice or reading style. My podfic superpowers have failed me, so I'll have to wait for reveals to know exactly who you are.

Thank you! I'm tickled to the very tips of my toes.

You're welcome! I love this story too and I had a lot of fun recording it. I hope it lived up to your hopes! (I would actually seriously appreciate your opinion and critique if you are inclined that way. I don't record or listen to a lot of podfic (I just love reading aloud) and I'd love to have feedback from someone who listens to a lot of it, but obviously, no obligation!)

Hello! Did you still want feedback? I'm sorry to have disappeared on you! (Seriously, it totally lived up to my hopes. So, so enjoyable to relive this story read aloud to me <333)

No worries, I totally understand that life happens sometimes. If it wouldn't be any trouble, I'd love to hear what you thought of it as podfic, because, like I said, I haven't recorded a lot of it. (My gmail is lidabet, or you can comment here, whichever you'd like. Please don't feel shy about being critical!) I'm so glad you liked it!

Leaving feedback on podfic is never trouble!

I really loved your character voices, especially all of Walter (exactly the right kind of over-the-top <3) and Peter in his first scene. I'm struggling to articulate what you did in setting the tone of the podfic, but it was also really great! Like, a little subdued like Lincoln but not any less complex and in places, vulnerable, for it. Also man, Peter's good humour and Olivia's mischief SHINE in your reading.

The major piece of concrit I've got for you is to say not to be afraid of silences! You did pretty well with that concept when working with dialogue, but your pacing was really hurried in the narrative and between scenes. It's okay and even important to give the audience a second or two between ideas to set things simmer. The words themselves weren't too fast, it was just the lack of silences.

But yeah, this? Is lovely. I relistened to it right before typing this up so I'd have it fresh in my mind. I'd MEANT to get up and get things done in the kitchen while I listened but got a bit mesmerised instead.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad the tone worked! Obviously kerithwyn's perfect, perfect Lincoln helped a lot, but I admit I was still a little worried because my voice and his sound nothing alike, not just in pitch, but in rhythm as well.

I'll keep the point about silences in mind in the future. I'm horribly impatient about that kind of thing myself, but I can see your point about the advantages overall.

I simply forgot that the audiofic archive existed! (As I said, I'm not terribly well hooked into the podfic community.) Thanks for reminding me, I'll email them myself soon.

Hm. I'd never even considered that someone might prefer not to have any blank spaces at all. I'm not talking about long pauses - maybe three seconds between scene changes at the longest end - but I can see the counterargument, now that you've made it. I love that the YMMV of podfic makers and listeners never actually stops surprising me.

Alternatively, I'm an archivist and can do the upload directly. If those few days were strategic and deliberate, though, we'll gladly await your email! [Edit: I'm not sure if my first offer scanned as an offer to email in the submission or as an offer to actually perform the upload and page creation. I suspect it was the former? Anyway, do what you're comfortable with, I just wanted to be clear.]

Either way, I have now sent in the submission! (Hopefully it went well, if you happen to see it and I've left something out, do let me know.)

Also, I notice that this isn't archived at the Audiofic Archive! Would you like me to do that for you or was the lack of a crosspost to amplificathon or submission via email deliberate?
